The invisible or "floating" heel

So do "real" people wear these kinds of shoes? I always see pictures of celebrities wearing them, better yet walking a short distance to their car or posing for pictures in them. Not actually shopping or walking very far in them. Maybe they fall into the shoe category of 'looking so damn good but hurting so damn bad'. Any thoughts?
